Plain and simple, before buying the DIY Solar panels guide, I wanted to be sure I wouldn’t get gypped. I’m not very savvy, so I wanted to be sure that I would use the DIY guide and assemble the solar panels without pulling out my hair. If you don’t have time to read this whole thing, check out this quick write up comparing the top DIY solar panel guides out there. Could I depend on the Do It Yourself green manuals to really show me how to make a solar panel?

The main catalyst for me was that the company would stand behind their DIY Energy guides if I met any troubles. It seems like the one thing in common all of them had was a money-back guarantee. Some had different time periods though. But it’s easy to say one thing and never actually back it up. What I did next was look up what other people in my situation had did.

I wanted a neutral outlook so I didn’t look at those sites trying to sell me their own product. After checking out peoples’ reviews, I figured out that most of the websites didn’t honor their guarantee which really turned me away. Those that were unhappy, they eventually got a refund but it took some time. After reading the reviews, I cross off my list one by one to see which ones didn’t live up to my standards. I was left with about 2 DIY manuals that were still good.

Are solar panels hard to make?

Without any technical background, I was honestly terrified that I wouldn’t be able to build the solar panels on my own. I didn’t hold any exclusive titles or graduate in any sciences. It’s 70 degrees outside and I’m running this laptop I am currently typing on with a solar panel I built with GreenDIYEnergy. I’ll let you know what I think of how this product is and if I was able to build a solar panel.

Every aspect of solar panel building is covered and utterly comprehensive. The over hour-long video library was included which was the biggest deciding factor for me. This provided me with step-by-step directions to help understand the process. I did have to pause it a couple of times to catch up but i was happy to find out it offered more than just diagrams.

I was first unsure about making solar panels, but after reading the Green DIY Energy review, I’m confident in my decision.

I was able to find the materials for the a lot less, after researching how to build solar panels, I was able to build one for $98. At Home Depot I could find some of the materials on sale to build solar panels in my garage. I built a working solar panel in my backyard and it all added up to $86 for me.

I like how this kit provides you with other projects that you can do besides building solar panels. You can also build wind turbines and learn how to have a smaller carbon footprint. Part of the profits are used for research and development for updates, so it is frequently updated. I haven’t tried building the wind turbines, but the solar panels worked. It allowed me to power this laptop as I’m typing on it right now.

It felt good to tell my neighbors that I no longer need to pay the electric company because of the solar panels I built. My neighbor keeps asking to build a solar panel for him. Today it is possible to purchase your own solar power panels. These panels are available online and range in price from $1000 to over $7000. Amazon has a very nice solar energy kit for close to $8000.

Using quality material can allow to a handy person to build very good solar panels. If you make them as a hobby, you will pay $3 per watt. If you want a 1.5KW solar panel, you can decrease the cost to $1.7 per W.
