Fiction is the ultimate passion for many readers in the contemporary world of today. Without the works of fiction, the world of writing and literature would have remained dry and parched without any joy or excitement whatsoever.

Fiction enhances your imagination just as it fires up the writer to produce a story out of thin air. What the author does is to conjure up the characters up in his or her mind and weave them into a convincing web of a story. The characters live in the mind of the author, and for them, the author plays the role of God. No character can live a word beyond the author’s imagination and lives just enough to fulfill his or her role in that classic book of fiction.

Howsoever hard it may be for the author to maintain the complexity of the characters within the story and weave them towards a conceivable end, the ease of reading a novel or a fiction book can be discernable when it lands into the hands of the reader itself. From there begins the imaginative flight of the reader – determining how the characters look and imagining what clothes they wear to how the scenes described in the story look and feel to the human senses.

Fiction books greatly enhance one’s imaginative skills and if the story has a good plot and strong characters then it does wonders to build up a strong sense of imagination in the reader’s mind. This sort of trend is welcome, but stories which draw a negative tendency and draw impulsive reaction from the readers should not be encouraged. Therefore, books that draw upon the positive side of readers and help them cultivate the habit of good reading and positive imagination should be encouraged without fail.

Fiction inspires new writers to produce their own imaginative work. As most of us will know, the markets are full with works of good as well as bad fiction. There are few people that have not thought about or wished they could switch to green power energy for their homes. It makes sense to stop and think about the pros and cons of green power energy as you research the advantages and disadvantages.

First, think about the environment. Switching to green solar energy from a conventional power supply is a definite pro when you consider the environment. First the environmental pros are based around the effects on the earth. Humans are currently using a vast amount of the earth’s natural resources such as coal and gas as we live, work and run our lives. We depend heavily on the non-renewable fossil fuels that the earth has taken millions of years to deposit. Humans will not be able to replenish those natural resources. This fact alone has to be seen as a huge pro in shifting towards using solar energy.

Solar energy is sourced from the sun. Because the sun will continue to radiate its energy for millions or billions of years, the radiation is considered a renewable resource. The sun is a powerful star in our solar system and the estimated life span of the sun is indefinite in human terms. Fuel reserves like coal and petroleum have an approximate depletion date of seventy years.

There is a con when considering solar systems for your home. The con is the initial cost of buying and installing the solar energy system. Now that we have gotten the con out of the way let us get back to the pros. The savings that one can make using solar power are phenomenal. You can pay for the initial set up within years possibly with the money you will save. Depending on how much power your home uses, there can be no fuel bill to pay, or a very small amount to pay to your power company. Furthermore, if you generate more power than you use, the power company will pay you for the energy you supply back to them.

When weighing the pros and cons of solar energy it is important to mention a few more of the downsides of this source of energy. There needs to be a big enough area for the solar panels to be installed so that there can be enough energy generated. If your home has a roof, you are all set, but an apartment dweller would not be able to install enough panels to create a solar energy system unless they were allowed to use the entire roof. Pollution and bad weather will affect the level of energy generated. There will be no energy produced at night, so some kind of backup power unit will be needed.  

Clearly then there are points that need to be taken into consideration when looking at solar energy. However, many of the cons can be mitigated and lessened with adequate planning and research into individual requirements. Overall, I feel that the pros outweigh the cons.

In a solar storage tank, water stratifies by temperature; cool water from the bottom of the tank is pulled up to the collectors to be heated and is returned to the top of the tank. The colder the incoming water, the higher the solar collector’s efficiency. In a single tank system, the electric element or gas flame keeps the stored water hot, leaving no cold water available to send to the solar collectors.

In most cases, credits or rebates can defray some of the cost of installing a solar water heater and are available from local utilities or state and federal governments. As the year progressed, I began to hear about green building and the challenges of our current built structure. When I began to understand that our homes and workspaces could be toxic, I was not happy. I began to inquire about obtaining educational programs for my agents. I felt if there was ever a profession who needed to understand these issues, it was real estate. In my research activity, I heard of energy mortgage concepts and again was wondering why my local mortgage professionals know nothing of these concepts.

As utility bills began to skyrocket, I became more familiar with how understand energy efficiency could help home owners lower utility bills. After contacting my local and even our national trade association to no avail, I could see someone needed to kick start the educational effort for awareness for the industry. Educating Realtors® was important and a few companies were dabbling in this, but what about the “chain of professions” in a real estate transactions. Who was bringing these issues to their attention? A buyer needs to know from their home inspector the attributes of how efficient the home they are considering really is.”

In the past few years, our company, Green Real Estate Education has taught 5,000 with thousands more on the horizon. The US Green Building Council, one of the fastest growing non-profits in the world is leading the effort for setting standards for green building and visibility for these efforts in the commercial sector. We should not forget that the residential sector is a strong contributor of greenhouse gas emissions into the air as well.

Many states are establishing their own standards and the local community needs to know these organizations and where they can find information if they choose to renovate or build green. Green education is in demand. People are inquiring and hungry for their real estate industry professionals to properly advise them on what is available.

Green Real Estate Education teaches grassroots outreach and it is working. Finally after we educated 4,000, the National Association of Realtors® established a certification program. We welcome their participation. We now ask banks and mortgage companies to educate their loan officers and loan processors so they understand these issues as well. I always thought that having solar panels installed was a great idea, but I also though it was a specialist job until I read a couple of green DIY energy guides and watched some of their video tutorials. WHAT IS SOLAR ENERGY?

With the broadcast of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”, the issue of global warming had escalated to unprecedented heights. These days, nearly all consumers are at least aware of global warming, and with the media’s push to “go-green”, many are now turning that awareness into constructive lifestyle changes.

One of the more prominent sub-categories associated with global warming is the issue of energy.

We all know that a considerable percentage of the world’s limited energy supply is being depleted daily. Billions around the world consume natural resources in some way, either directly or through using products derived from these resources. However, even though most people are now educated on how they can make resourceful changes in their life, they still tend to overlook one area where a significant percentage of consumption occurs – energy.

Our planet is host to a wealth of natural energy resources, with fossil fuels being the one source we’re most familiar with. Due to a steady increase in energy consumption, we now have dangerously fewer resources and energy reserves.

Many conscious consumers and businesses are now looking to source alternative energy to supply them with a eco-friendly energy source. Companies are now researching new and improved ways to harness natural energy through wind and water. Unlike traditional systems, these energy sources are renewable and plentiful. But there is still one element outside of our planet that offers one of the greatest energy supplies to world over – the sun.

We are now able to able to harness the energy of the sun and use it for several purposes, one of them being using heat to provide cooling. This is done through collecting energy through large dark grid-like panels that are positioned to face the sun. The usage of solar powered air conditioners is not a new concept since they were used by the U.S. in the early 20th century. However, with the rise of electricity rates and the need for greater consumption, there has been a steady increase in the commercial use of solar ACs.

SOLAR AC BENEFITS

Incentive programs –

The cost of setting up solar air conditioners can be very high. Still, a family or business opting to go with solar powered ACs can go a long way in reducing long term electricity costs. Additionally, both the federal government and many state governments offer incentive plans to solar energy users. However, since rates vary state by state, it’s best to check your state to see what their specific incentive programs are.

Increase home resale value –

Furthermore, in addition to stabilizing soaring energy costs, solar energy panels are considered an investment. Many homeowners find solar features add considerable value to their home, and make their homes far more marketable in a competitive real estate market. Home buyers are known to be more attracted if two homes are comparable in every way, except that one offers solar air conditioning while the other does not.

There are also considerable savings for solar air conditioner users. IFC, a consulting firm, held a study on solar air conditioners where they show that solar energy can add $20 of home value for every $1 of year energy savings. To get a bigger-picture understanding of this, it’s estimated that an annual savings of $1500 in electricity bills (due to solar energy additions) will add about $30,000 to the resale value of the home. In short, adding solar energy for air conditioning use will save consumers money in the long-run. They may even make a profit through reselling unused energy back to the state.

If solar air conditioning sounds appealing, know that it does not come without its drawbacks. And as with anything else, it’s best to know both the pros and cons before making a considerable investment in it.

Solar AC Drawbacks

Weather-dependant –

Solar energy panels for cooling have one obvious requirement – the sun. If solar ACs are the route you choose to go, know that you’re going to have a significant problem on days where the sun may not be clear enough for the panels to soak up the energy. While this is normally not a problem during the summer, in some areas it poses as a considerable barrier since hot humid weather can exist in cloudy, sun-less atmospheres.

In these cases, you may not have enough energy stored in the batteries to get you through the day. This problem is obviously magnified if you have a bad weather week, a bad weather season or a bad weather region. Since panels can only contribute energy when there actually is sunlight, you’ll need to have some sort of storage device set up. But as you can see, solar powered air conditioning is simply not effective in areas that do not have many hours of strong sunlight.

But the best option for those wanting to keep costs down is to go for smaller more basic models.
